    Digitalization in teaching

    New technologies and media are already being used in a wide variety of areas in higher agricultural and forestry schools. At the strategy day, students from four schools presented how digitalization is specifically incorporated into lessons. One focus is the collection, processing and preparation of digital data - with the help of drones and satellite images - and making them usable for agriculture. A wide range of possible uses are also being tested in the field of agricultural technology.

    Digitalization can make a lot of things easier not only in teaching, but also in business. Digital technologies are already in use in many places in domestic businesses, both in agriculture and animal husbandry. According to a KeyQuest survey, 13 percent of all arable land is already cultivated with GPS-controlled technologies. Around a sixth of all farmers can well imagine investing in this direction - the younger and better educated the respondents are, the greater their interest.

    In addition to promoting smart farming, the BMNT's investment focus is primarily on improving the technical equipment of schools. This creates the prerequisites for the digital maturity examination and enables the increased use of digital media in teaching.

      The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein is actively committed to quickly communicating research results to young people and supporting teaching at agricultural schools. Starting in the fall, in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management and the University of Agricultural and Environmental Education, two new and compact online seminar series specifically for teachers at agricultural schools.

      As part of the 2025 winter conference under the motto " Bringing the future down to earth grassland and livestock management day will take place in Raumberg-Gumpenstein on Thursday, January 30, 2025 . In addition to the opening day of agricultural policy, our conference will take place on January 21st. in Vienna, the specialist day for vegetable, fruit and horticulture (23.1.     • Training for sheep and goatherds 2025

      Extensive grazing with small ruminants in the Alpine region is of great ecological, social and economic importance. However, this requires well-trained shepherds. In cooperation with the Austrian Center Bär Wolf Luchs and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, under the direction of Ms. Maria Naynar, offers the first certified training for sheep and goatherds on alpine pastures in Austria .

    • SEMINAR: Does my cow feel good? Animal welfare analysis with farmlife.at - application on the farm and in lessons

      Participants learn about the FarmLife Welfare tool, how to interpret farm results and how to use the tool in agricultural practice. In addition, we look at the school uses of the animal welfare tool. This gives you an insight into a practical and competency-oriented teaching method for agricultural schools (e.g. for the subject of livestock farming). No prior knowledge of the farmlife.at business management tool is necessary.

    The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein combines research and teaching under one roof and is the largest department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management.     Research and teach in tune with the times

    the teaching and training includes a boarding school, both a conventional and an organic teaching and research farm with its own livestock, a teaching forest, various practice rooms and workshops, and a processing center for meat, milk and fruit , a chemistry and a biology laboratory as well as a teaching biotope are available. The close intersection of teaching and research is important to us. “Science in School” and modern methods of imparting knowledge through motivated teachers characterize the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein.
