Lambach branch

At the Bio-Institut's location in Lambach/Stadl-Paura, experiments on organic farming are being carried out on an area of approx. 20 hectares. The experimental questions range from variety testing and fertilization trials to a wide variety of cultivation techniques. These circumstances are particularly important in organic farming, as there are no short-term options for intervention using synthetic agents and preventative and long-term effective measures must be taken. Crop rotation plays an essential role in organic farming, which is why special attention is paid to the central element of forage legumes through special experiments. In addition to well-known arable crops such as grain, maize and common legumes, crops for human nutrition make up another significant proportion. For example, new crops such as legumes and sweet potatoes have a special significance, which will become even more important with climate change.
