According to Section 12 of the Federal Agricultural and Forestry School Act, this is a prerequisite for admission to a higher agricultural and forestry college

• the successful completion of the middle school class an assessment in all performance-differentiated compulsory subjects
• Performance level “Standard AHS”

        or

• Performance level “Standard” is not worse than “Good”.
• the successful completion of the polytechnic school on the 9th grade.
• the successful completion of the 1st class of a vocational middle school
• the successful completion of the 4th or higher grade of the general secondary school (AHS).

Entrance exam

Applicants for admission must take an entrance examination

• Middle school consists of those performance-differentiated compulsory subjects in which the stated requirements are not met and
• Elementary school in German, mathematics and living foreign language if the 8th level has been successfully completed.

According to Section 28 Paragraph 3 of the School Education Act, the successful completion of the 8th grade or the successful completion of the first eight years of compulsory schooling is a prerequisite for admission to the 1st level of a higher school if

• the annual certificate from the 4th level of middle school or the 4th or 5th level of the AHS in all compulsory subjects (except for the compulsory subjects Latin/Second Foreign Language and Geometric Drawing as well as in additional school-autonomous compulsory subjects and in special compulsory subjects at schools with special consideration of the arts or sports training) has an assessment and does not contain a grade of “Inadequate” in any of these compulsory subjects

        or

• the student has successfully completed ¹

Furthermore, the successful completion of the 8th grade or the fulfillment of the first eight years of compulsory education is given if the student has successfully completed the 7th grade of elementary school, the 3rd grade of the middle school or the 3rd grade the AHS has successfully completed the polytechnic school.

Admission to a three-year advanced course

According to Section 18 of the Federal Agriculture and Forestry School Act, the prerequisite for admission to a three-year advanced course is after completing general compulsory schooling

• at least three years of practical work in agriculture and forestry with attendance at vocational school or
• at least one year of practical work in agriculture and forestry and successful attendance at at least two levels of an agricultural and forestry technical school or
• the successful attendance of at least three levels of an agricultural and forestry technical school.

¹ If the certificate of foreign school attendance does not contain proof of a positive qualification in German, an external examination must be taken on the subject matter of German in middle school.
