Building or converting pig sheds ties up capital and labor for many years. In order for such construction measures to be implemented to the satisfaction of people and animals, extensive planning is necessary. The Institute for Organic Agriculture and Livestock Biodiversity regularly offers “stable days” at its branch in Thalheim/Wels.
On these dates, the institute's experts open the stable door and lead through the pig stalls. The goal is to answer questions, point out new developments and talk to farmers. The different composition of the respective groups (organic farmers, those interested in converting, companies...) not only guarantees interesting conversations, but above all a wide variety of experiences and impressions that would hardly be expected in a one-on-one conversation.
The tours begin at 9 a.m. with a short introduction of the participants. The morning's topics are determined depending on the interests of the group. After the tour, there will be an opportunity to discuss details based on the plans or stable sketches you brought with you.
