Instead of the traditional handover to the children, Martin and Erika Ertl opt for a modern solution for farm succession
Traditionally, agricultural businesses are often passed on to a daughter or son within the family. In addition, the number of employees on many farms has been reduced for decades. In this podcast episode, an alternative business development concept is presented. Two siblings “share” their parents’ farm with their young families. After studying at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Paul Ertl worked with his sister Karin and their respective partners and parents on the handover of the farm and the establishment of a civil law partnership at the Ertl&Jester organic farm in Spital an der Drau . In addition to the necessary legal steps, new business pillars were established and coexistence on the farm was also discussed and defined.
