In the morning, this ranged from an overview of the department's pig projects as well as "hot" topics on building law, spatial planning and emissions assessment (Ing. Eduard Zentner) to the presentation of the project "IBeSt: Innovations for existing pig stables" with a live video link the research stable (Dr. Birgit Heidinger) to the evaluation of odor emission factors for pig farming (Michael Kropsch, BMA). Strengthened by a befitting menu (roast pork) at school, the farmers followed Ing. Irene Mösenbacher-Molterer's explanations in the afternoon on the results of dust measurements in different stables and on sources of error often found in stable climate investigations.
A tour of the pig research barn rounded off the overall program.
Josef Macher from the Steiermark Pig Advisory Service (SBS) thanked everyone on behalf of all participants and referred to the excellent cooperation between the SBS and the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and the enormous importance of practical research in the pig sector for the entire industry.
