In the agricultural circular economy, resources and internal nutrient cycles are particularly important. Other aspects such as soil health and toxicity of pesticides need to be taken into account. All aspects serve the internal optimization of the company, but also paint a picture towards the consumer. These aspects were brought together by the eco-efficiency research group at HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein together with colleagues from the life cycle assessment working group (Agroscope, CH) in the farm management tool FarmLife. The joint consideration of the different areas is seen as a valuable gain by science, consulting and practice. The topic of animal justice or animal welfare is integrated into the strategy of sustainable and holistic business consulting. By using a common technical platform, the assessment of this topic can be implemented efficiently and practicably.
The aim of the project is to develop suitable parameters and methods for assessing the animal welfare of husbandry systems using the example of cattle farming and to integrate them into the FarmLife farm management tool.
