European Grassland Conference – Finding solutions together

From 10th to 13th In June 2024, Stephan Pabst took part in the “European Grassland Federation” conference in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands as one of 325 participants from 32 countries.

Just by looking at the program with 42 presentations and over 200 posters, you can see that the topics of ecosystem services, biodiversity, CO 2 footprint and competition from feed and food were the main topics of this conference. Of course, there were also exciting findings about maintaining quality and productivity in grassland, technological innovations and animal welfare. Stephan Pabst was able to present the Added Value Mountain Agriculture project, present the first results in the form of a poster and discuss it with colleagues from Germany, Switzerland and other European countries.

In summary, ecosystem services, biodiversity and feed conversion efficiency play a major role in determining the value of grassland across Europe.
