20th State Forestry Championship – once again in full action

20th State Forestry Championship – once again in full action

Almost 3 years ago, students in our school founded the recreational activity “competitive cutting”.

After our team was able to brilliantly demonstrate their performance in the first competition last year, it was that time again this year: the 20th state forestry championship was just around the corner on April 12th and 13th, 2023.

This year the Tamsweg agricultural college in neighboring Salzburg hosted the event. Our school team, consisting of Leon Steinbauer, Benedikt Stummer, Michael Ertl, Lukas Mayr, Felix Reisinger and Andreas Sprung, was proud to demonstrate their trained performance. Together with Mr. Ing. Franz Luidold, who is the director of this competitive sport, we were able to represent our school with a lot of team spirit and full commitment. In the four different basic disciplines - including falling notch with felling cut, combination cut, precision cut and chain changes - the young participants in our team were able to collect a lot of points, which are crucial for the overall ranking, as every year the best twelve compete in the fifth discipline, the betting Asten may.

A particularly outstanding performance from one of our competitors must be announced. After the basic disciplines, Leon Steinbauer took first place in the state championship with his starting number 1 and was therefore able to lead the race before the decisive supreme discipline “limbing”. He started the last race with a small lead and was able to win Austria's 6th place. Leon was also able to secure the title of “Vice State Champion for Fall Notching and Felling Cut 2023” and “Vice State Champion for Combination Cut 2023”. In the team ranking, our competition team took 7th place.

We congratulate our team on their success and wish them much success and an accident-free competition for the next state championship.

As a competition team, we would once again like to thank Pfanner, the Steiermärkische Sparkasse, the Steiermark Forest Association and our school management as well as the alumni association for their support for the successful set.
