Creation and maintenance of species-rich permanent greenery in vineyard lanes

As part of the EU project Life VineAdapt, the lanes at the Silberberg State Winery and at Styrian partner wineries have been greened and evaluated species-rich permanent greenery mix in the median strip and a grass mix in the lanes The seeds are G-Zert certified and come from regional collections of wild plants.

The system technology achieved very good results in two work steps:

    • seedbed preparation between the tractor tires with rotor reversible harrow
    • Sowing a species-rich mixture with surface placement using a Güttler device between the lanes and subsequent rolling with a prismatic roller.

At the same time, a mixture of lawn grasses was sown in the lanes using the split seed box.

last up to 10 years By using a biodiversity mulcher or by removing the middle mulcher blades, the sown species can bloom, serve as a nectar source for insects and the seeds can ripen.
