Climate Change - What will happen to our agriculture - 01. Podcast

    What’s next for Austrian agriculture?

The global climate is changing significantly. Farming businesses in particular are under massive strain due to the increasingly unpredictable weather conditions. The main reason for this is the increasing greenhouse gas emissions, which are driving up the global average temperature. On the one hand, this leads to increasingly frequent periods of heat and drought, extreme storms and heavy rainfall and, on the other hand, to gradual changes in entire ecosystems.

We asked Dr. what exactly is coming to Austrian agriculture. Andreas Schaumberger asked.

Andreas Schaumberger is involved in climate impact research at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and has also worked on important climate models. As head of the grassland department, he also runs long-term research projects and uses many new technologies.
