Climate Impact Research and Climate Change Adaptation Strategies

Climate change is a fact and it is happening. According to forecasts and climate models, the Central Alpine region in particular will be particularly severely affected by climate change in the future. The effects on our agriculture can now also be demonstrated in a wide variety of areas. That is why climate impact research and the findings and strategies derived from it for adapting to climate change are of vital importance for everyone. Agriculture's responsibility to stop climate change and its consequences must also be taken into account in future strategies.

This brochure “Climate Impact Research and Climate Change Adaptation Strategies” from the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein provides a highly up-to-date overview of the scientific projects we are working on. The areas of plants, animals, biodiversity and the environment, including water balance, are examined using 29 projects. In addition to the basic topic, the latest results and effects of climate change are shown. The innovations, results and strategies are summarized in a reader-friendly manner and concrete goals are defined.

The claim we make here corresponds to Raumberg-Gumpenstein's fundamental understanding: research must be able to explain what it does. In Raumberg-Gumpenstein, current and practical issues are addressed under scientific criteria and with standards of international level. But only when the findings have reached practical use and can be implemented has research explained what it does and why we need it.
