    On Friday, July 8th, a small but fine delegation from the WKÖ, quality management department in the food trade, visited the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein. The aim of the 8-person delegation consisting of those responsible for quality management from the most important food retailers in Austria (Hofer, Spar, Lidl, Rewe,…)

    to get to know the current research on primary production and to find out first-hand animal welfare and environmental certification In addition to the Wellfare Index topics for self-evaluation of animal welfare, developed under the leadership of Elfriede Ofner-Schröck, environmental system considerations were taken into account in combination with the climate impact research facility ClimGrass with Dr. Markus Herndl and the core content of sustainable, site-adapted and climate-neutral agriculture by Dr. Thomas Guggenberger on the topic. The specialist excursion was rounded off with a brief look into meat quality research by Dr. Margit Velik and the interesting projects in the area of ​​pig and poultry farming by Michael Kropsch.
