Special features of the energy supply for pasture cows

Lecture by Priv.-Doz. Dr. Andreas Steinwidder at the ZAR conference 2021

Pasture-based dairy farming relies on simplifying production technology and making the best possible use of grass growth (full pasture, seasonal spring calving). Sustainable low-input milk production is sought by minimizing purchased feed, using less machinery and reducing labor.

Limited pasture feed intake

It should be noted that the daily pasture dry matter intake is limited, especially when kept on full pasture. How this can be responded to in the management and breeding of cows will be discussed in the lecture by Priv.-Doz. Dr. Andreas Steinwidder pictured at the ZAR conference 2021.
