New tools for teaching animal welfare and sustainability

On April 27, 2023, the FarmLife Advanced webinar for teachers (in collaboration with the University of Agricultural and Environmental Education) took place with only a small but very interested group. The participants received an introduction to the FarmLife animal welfare module and the new tool for determining farm biodiversity as well as an insight into the FarmLife teacher tool.

For teaching: animal welfare module, biodiversity, FarmLife teacher tool

The two technical tools were recognized by the participants as extremely practical for teaching. Written instructions for the options for school implementation provide additional support. Following the webinar, the participants on farmlife.at are now defined as teachers and are themselves in a position to expand the catalog of knowledge questions already available on FarmLife for the students according to their wishes and requirements. This means that FarmLife can be used even better than before for creating homework or for checking learning goals.

In addition to the technical side, the focus of the webinar was primarily on how the new tools and FarmLife in general can be used in teaching. For this purpose, DI Peter Schweiger from the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, together with one student and two students, contributed his experience from the currently ongoing FarmLife project of the advanced course.

It was also discussed that FarmLife can be used not only for interdisciplinary lessons, but also for ongoing regular lessons in various subjects in the agricultural school curriculum. Special documents have also been made available (see further links: FarmLife for teaching: WHICH area of it fits MY teaching subject ), in which the curriculum-based connection to FarmLife is presented on 1-2 pages per teaching subject.

Overall, we can look back on a successful short webinar. The now traditional offer of FarmLife seminars for teachers will continue in February/March 2024. You will see the announcements in good time in the HAUP training plan and in the event calendar on our homepage.
