In a very interesting way, Dr. Martin mayr (representative of the European Commission in Austria) and Mag. Paul Schmidt (Secretary General of the Austrian Society for European Policy) discuss many current events in the European Union. The interests and questions of the students in 1 U, 4 L, 4 U and 2 ALG were addressed very well. In addition, the students were encouraged by the two speakers to formulate their own ideas and visions of Europe.
In previous lessons, questions were worked out together on various teaching topics, which the two experts answered in a very understandable way. The range of questions and concerns of the students included the following topics: agricultural policy and global trade in the agricultural sector, democracy in Europe (using Hungary as an example), global economic connections (Europe, China, Russia, etc.), dealing with refugees in Europe, agriculture and alpine farming in Austria and the large predators (wolves, bears, etc.), dealing with the issue of abortion in Europe, and many other topics.
The students' very active participation in this discussion makes it possible to take our wishes and concerns into account in upcoming decision-making processes. A big thank you goes to the organization of this event, which gave us this unique opportunity for further training.
