The ÖNGENE forms the platform for direct coordination between the breeding associations, the animal breeding representatives of the federal states, science and the Ministry of Agriculture. This bundling of cooperation in the joint platform ÖNGENE is an Austrian specialty and makes it possible to react promptly to problems in the conservation breeding of endangered livestock breeds. The organic institute of the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein at the Wels/Thalheim branch with qualified veterinarian Beate Berger is entrusted with the management of ÖNGENE.

All responsible breeding organizations have presented their results and experiences with the new ÖPUL measure . The measure is viewed very positively by everyone and it is particularly pleasing that it is very well accepted and implemented by breeders. For example, the number of farm animals worthy of preservation increased from around 36,000 to more than 44,000 animals between 2016 and 2023. The ÖNGENE board and management thanked all participating breeding organizations for the good cooperation and the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein for their support in the organization and the use of the excellent infrastructure.
