Animal welfare and the labeling of agricultural products are becoming increasingly relevant to society. FarmLife Welfare Index, developed at the HBLFA assesses the animal welfare potential on dairy farms in the three sub-areas “keeping conditions”, “animal care and management” and “animals”.
When surveying using the FarmLife Welfare Index, the focus is on the animal, but an analysis of weak points in the stable and feedback for the farmer with recommendations for improving deficiencies are also crucial. It is about obtaining information regarding successful processes in your own company and areas in which procedures should be optimized.
As part of this project, measures to optimize the animal welfare potential on the farm are to be developed based on the results of the FarmLife Welfare Index for cattle. In order to be able to provide farmers with recommendations for improving animal welfare based on the FarmLife Welfare results, a detailed catalog of measures developed. In order to better understand the factors influencing the animal welfare situation, the points scheme should be presented clearly and the evaluation results should be presented clearly .
