On March 22, 2023, the specialist event on the Organic Bavarian Edible Legumes project took place in the Rapunzel World in Legau to conclude the first project phase. Many different speakers from research, consulting, marketing, processors, nutrition and practitioners gave very interesting insights into the rapidly developing sector.
The very promising branch of plant-based nutrition with local legumes was given an ideal stage for this event by the company involved, Rapunzel Naturkost. Steadily increasing growth rates in consumption in recent years on the consumer side and research into legumes as well as the interest of farmers in their cultivation on the other hand make the topic highly topical. The already clear effects of climate change make alternatives in the field and in crop rotation necessary.
The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein has therefore entered into a cooperation with the LfL Bayern through the BioFieldFood project and the first interim results of the joint experiments were presented at this event. Further information, experiences and results can be found here
