Under the guidance of the experts from the Grassland Institute and the biology teachers, the students create wildflower meadows typical of the location. The know-how learned can be transferred to your own company. In particular, previously unused roadsides or parking areas should be upgraded and serve as so-called stepping stone biotopes. This can also create a flowering network for the pollinator species. Perennial wildflower mixtures (certified of origin) made from perennial native grasses and herbs are used to create a blooming landscape with bees, wild bees, bumblebees and butterflies. The flower meadow nature trail with information boards about the pointer species is not only an eye-catcher, but also a practical teaching tool for lessons, which includes the care of these areas.
In addition, the construction of insect hotels using simple materials is planned. The Alpengarten Bad Aussee's many years of experience are drawn upon here.
On the topic: “Creating habitats and food sources for wild bees”, two students from the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein will be completing a diploma thesis in the 2020/21 school year.
