ClimSchool: The “climate-fit school” project

Climate change undeniably requires strategies to use and protect our natural resources. The “ClimSchool” project was launched at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein last year, in which all activities and measures are designed for sustainable and long-term development. The focus is on the close networking of research and teaching with a focus on climate.

Since its founding, individual workshops and events have taken place - project lessons and research internships enable young researchers to make important contributions to climate protection. They participate in awareness-raising measures, such as the Next Generation Gröbming campus, the development of regional mission concepts and are multipliers of innovative management and production processes in the interests of sustainable development. Another special feature are diploma theses on climate-relevant topics, which are often supported by the expertise of leading partners from education and business.

The focus is on sustainability in everyday life

The school's climate assessment is intended to help make everyday school and boarding school life more sustainable. Measures to save electricity and water, avoid and separate waste, and ensure sustainable consumption of ecologically valuable food will receive even more attention in the future.

Initiatives and projects to promote biodiversity, such as the creation of flowering areas and habitats for insects, as well as the elimination of neophytes, the greening of classrooms for an improved indoor climate and much more. are implemented in teamwork.

An open-air laboratory at the Trautenfels location for the soil-water balance and biodiversity in connection with sustainable land use is also available to educational partners from the region.
