New EU project: agrifoodTEF

Artificial intelligence will change the way we live and therefore the way we produce our food. As part of the EU project “agrifoodTEF”, the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research & Developement will offer services and infrastructure for the testing, validation and further development of AI-based applications for animal husbandry.

AgrifoodTEF stands for European Testing and Experimentation Facilities for Agrifood Innovations. The aim is to promote sustainable and efficient food production and includes project partners from nine EU countries. A network of physical and digital facilities across Europe, the project provides services to evaluate and validate third-party AI and robotics solutions in real-world conditions. This is intended to create additional security for providers and users of digital technologies in the European agricultural sector. The use of these services will be possible for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at particularly favorable conditions.

The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and Raumberg-Gumpenstein Research & Developement build their service catalog within the framework of agrifoodTEF on their extensive expertise, particularly in the following areas:

  • Species-appropriate animal husbandry, animal health and animal welfare
  • Use of technology and electronics in agricultural management
  • Reduction of emissions and immissions from livestock farming
  • Sustainability assessment
  • Balancing of energy, material and nutrient flows

This means that there are excellent national conditions for innovative and practical research of the highest standards. In networking with partners from the agrifoodTEF project, this knowledge base is deepened and broadened through mutual transfer of information to include their areas of expertise, and the institution's existing network is supplemented to the benefit of all project partners.
