136 hours for a basic course in cattle hoof care? Yes, and it's entertaining: the basic course has a very dense program: in addition to the anatomy of cattle, it also covers feeding, illnesses, dressings and tool knowledge. The care processes on dead claws are explained and practiced before the practice on live animals (sheep, goats and cattle). Other important content includes animal protection, legal aspects, occupational safety and accident prevention, stress-free animal movement, herd management, epidemics and hygiene as well as the documentation of hoof care work.

Building on the basic course, there is also the opportunity in Raumberg-Gumpenstein to complete a certificate course for inter-company/commercial hoof trimmers and an internationally recognized diploma course to become an instructor in functional hoof trimming is also held very successfully. Internationally renowned experts such as Univ. Prof. Johann Kofler and Robert Pesenhofer are the mainstays of this training.

With this attractive and up-to-date training package for farmers and interested parties, Raumberg-Gumpenstein makes a valuable contribution to improving animal health and thus animal welfare on cattle farms is sustainably promoted.

If you are also interested in such training or would like to become more qualified when it comes to hoof care, you can find information about the basic course and the subsequent certificate course for inter-company/commercial hoof trimmers from our cooperation partner LFI on the homepage under the Styrian Cattle Education Program.
