The war situation in Ukraine, the terrible suffering of the people has not only led to committed fundraising campaigns at school, but also to attempts to show an inner attitude of solidarity and compassion in the form of silence and in the form of prayers. Due to the Corona rules, it was and is unfortunately not possible to hold a peace prayer with the entire school community, so class-by-class prayers were held in the in-house chapel for the victims of the war and for peace.
Peace doves, folded from paper printed with Bishop Hermann Glettler's prayer for peace, serve as a symbol of prayer remembrance. This prayer can be a companion in the coming conflict-filled times.
You God of peace,
We come to you speechless, horrified and powerless.
For weeks we have been observing the brutal business of war,
bitter fighting, countless refugees and deaths.
All attempts at mediation seem to be unsuccessful.
In this desperate situation, we ask You
for the conversion of all those who spread fear and terror.
We pray for strength and protection for all those in distress.
We pray to Your Spirit to bring about a change of mind
to prevent further destruction and greater misery.
On behalf of all those who have to endure in the war zone, who
are directly affected, threatened or involved in fighting:
Put an end to the murder and finally make
the miracle of peace come true for Ukraine and all of Europe!
You God of life, comfort and connection,
we trust in You because every prayer reaches Your heart.
With the certainty of faith that You
can change everything for the better, we praise You now and forever.
Amen.
Bishop Hermann Glettler
