Lecture series on citizen science at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna

In the winter semester of 2021, a series of lectures on the topic of citizen science will be offered at BOKU Vienna. On November 10th, 2021 at 2 p.m., the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein with Verena Mayer as a speaker will bring an interesting contribution to the PolliDiversity project - pollinator diversity in our own environment.

The lecture is public, so anyone interested can take part. Registration takes place via the “Österreich forscht” platform.

A short summary of the content of the lecture:

In the last 30 years, the number of insects, especially those that pollinate flowers, has shrunk enormously. The main reasons for this are the loss of habitat and the loss of food sources. Area sealing, green areas similar to golf turf and intensive, large-scale agriculture are among the causes. At PolliDiversity we want to find out in different areas of Austria which pollinators, but especially bees and wild bees, visit four selected plant species with different flower shapes in differently structured landscapes.
