Under the direction of Dr. in Elfriede OFNER-SCHRÖCK, Dir. Ing. Johann GAISBERGER, Prof. in DI. in Beate Mayerl and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Andreas STEINWIDDER discussed a wide range of topics that highlighted the current challenges and innovations in organic agriculture.
The participants had the opportunity to find out about teaching materials online and get to know a humus balancing tool for teaching that crop rotation planning and circular economy . Practical organic teaching ideas were shared and organic cheese production requirements and marketing strategies discussed.
A particular highlight was the sensory assessment of cheese, in which the participants carried out practical exercises. An excursion provided insights into organic hay milk production without concentrated feed and cow-based calf rearing . During the evening meeting, personal contacts were made and experiences were exchanged. In addition, 28 specialist organic stations offered insights into current topics in organic livestock farming. The seminar was aimed at teachers, consultants and researchers and offered a valuable opportunity to deepen the understanding of organic farming and gain new ideas for teaching.
In the next school year, the seminar will take place in June 2025 at the LFS Grottenhof in Graz . In addition, regular webinars are planned to support teachers in organic teaching, through researchers, advice and practice. These will be planned and technically coordinated HBLFA
