Visit to the Styriabrid in Raumberg-Gumpenstein

On November 21st, Styriabrid officials went on an excursion to Raumberg-Gumpenstein. The 14 participants were initially informed by Birgit Heidinger about the renovation in the Raumberg-Gumpenstein pig research stable as part of the IBeSt project (“Innovations for existing pig stables – for the benefit of animals and people”). Eduard Zentner then reported on current results from two projects and on the amendment to the Styrian Spatial Planning Act.

After the lunch break, during which the participants were provided with excellent, befitting pork from the school kitchen, they went to the pigsty. During a tour of the stables, the officials were able to get an idea of the initial experiences from the IBeSt project that had previously been reported. The goal of an intensive, professional exchange on pig farming topics and, above all, the mutual learning from and with each other was fully achieved and should be continued in a tried and tested manner.
