Valuable fatty acids in cow's milk

In a recent study, high levels of nutritionally valuable fatty acids were found in cow's milk samples from practical farms. The important omega-3 fatty acids, for example, are particularly high in organic milk, where pasture and green fodder is very important on the farms and less concentrated feed and corn silage is used. New technical possibilities now make it possible to estimate fatty acid groups cost-effectively and quickly in routine analysis using mid-infrared methods. As the results of a current scientific work by the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein in collaboration with the UNI for Natural Resources and Life Sciences show, the data from these rapid methods can be used as a screening tool in farm consulting and when optimizing feeding.
