Extensive grazing with small ruminants in the Alpine region is of great ecological, social and economic importance. However, this requires well-trained shepherds. In cooperation with the Austrian Center Bär Wolf Luchs and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, under the direction of Ms. Maria Naynar, offers the first certified training for sheep and goatherds on alpine pastures in Austria .

In 6 modules , which last approximately 100 hours, participants will gain in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of the alpine farming and herding of small ruminants . The course will take place at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein and there will also be various excursions.

The course is suitable for beginners and advanced learners and can also be booked in individual modules. Module 1 starts on February 21st and 22nd, 2025 (the program is subject to change).
