As part of the Austria-wide seminar “ Raise and improve cow comfort ”, which took place on September 20, 2023 at the LFS Pyhra, the FarmLife Welfare tool developed HBLFA presented.
After an introduction to the FarmLife Welfare Index as part of a lecture, the
animal welfare survey in the stable was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Elfriede Ofner-Schröck and DI Edina Scherzer practiced practically together with the seminar participants.
Animal welfare is the top priority on successful dairy farms . However, there are areas on every farm that could be improved. The potential for improvement is often not apparent at first glance - this is where the FarmLife Welfare tool can help. Numerous parameters are asked as part of the survey. Be it the slip resistance of the floor, the height of the neck bar, the frequency of claw care , etc. Small adjustments can have a big impact on animal welfare.
The Austrian expert advisors want to show these adjustment screws in companies. The FarmLife Welfare tool is suitable for surveys based on a consultation. The clear presentation of results can be discussed in detail with the operations managers after the survey.
