Following their work on noise emissions from animals and machines in the practical guide to sound technology in agriculture, the author duo Michael Kropsch and Christoph Lechner have now examined agricultural farmsteads in their entirety.
In a multi-year project, the noise emissions from livestock farms raising poultry, cattle, and pigs were recorded and analyzed. The surveys encompassed 956 noise sources, specifically 585 vehicle activities, 251 agricultural machines, and 120 barns or free-range areas. Area-specific sound power levels were derived from this data and compared to current standards and legal regulations.
This publication forms the basis for addressing noise-related issues in zoning procedures and represents a valuable addition to the Forum Schall's catalog of operating types
