The Gumpenstein test areas are buzzing

Since April 2021, three bee colonies have been located at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein test field and are looked after by employees of the Institute for Plant Production and Cultural Landscape.

As part of a school project, students (class 4L school year 20/21) built a bee hut for this purpose. The colonies have developed very well in the first year and are very happy to accept the numerous flowers in the test field, which is also reflected in the honey yield. In addition to collecting honey, bees also make a very valuable contribution to pollinating a wide variety of flowering mixtures and wild herb propagations.
