The Innovation Farm Raumberg-Gumpenstein focuses on Innenwirtschaft . Digital technologies are submitted in the form of use cases, which are tested in experimental and/or pilot operations. Findings from the tests are presented to the specialist audience during educational events. New opportunities that arise from digitalization for agriculture, but also the risks that this development poses for practitioners, should be clearly explained to the user.
The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein is currently working on digital heat detection systems, automatic feed boosting, sensor-based rumination monitoring, electronic ear tags, calving monitoring and much more. In addition to practical studies, practicing farmers will be interviewed and the added value that the innovation generates will then be quantified.
How the development towards the use of digital tools in small-scale Austrian agriculture will develop remains to be seen in the future. What is certain is that digital competence - as in all other areas - represents the essential basis for further development in agriculture.
