Results of an ongoing research project at the LFZ Raumberg-Gumpenstein on short-grass grazing as well as experiences from Bavaria (also on short-grass grazing) show that a significant reduction in dock numbers can be achieved through temporary intensive grazing of areas contaminated with docks. In this scientific activity, these positive experiences are to be evaluated in a short-term project. If the concept appears promising, an expansion of the experimental activity (regions, companies) will be considered. The organic grassland advisors are already informed about the WT. There is great interest in the planned experiment. A broad implementation of results via specialist publications, consulting documents, lectures, etc. is ensured. The experiment is being carried out at the organic teaching and research facility at the LFZ Raumberg-Gumpenstein. Test questions are designed to be as practical as possible so that the results can be passed on directly to other companies.
Project goals:
- The project
examines the possibility of targeted grazing as a time-saving and cost-effective option for rehabilitating areas heavily contaminated with docks - The influence of targeted reseeding on the success of the measures is examined
- The medium-term success of the pasture management measures is recorded and evaluated
