New research project started at the Bio-Institut

In the first few weeks after calving, dairy cows are in an energy deficit, depending on their performance and feed intake. Increasing negative energy balance increases body reserve mobilization, increases metabolic stress and can cause negative effects on health, longevity and fertility. The research project aims to investigate new strategies to reduce the energy deficit and thus relieve the burden on dairy cows.
