Fecal assessment for a practice-oriented, rapid ration control on livestock farms and the resulting options for interpreting the digestive processes

The goal of optimal digestion is to keep losses occurring during the conversion process - from food to absorbable nutrients - as low as possible. This is influenced by the ration design.

Providing a ration suitable for ruminants, with an energy and nutrient supply adapted to the needs, can help to minimize losses and thus contribute to increasing efficiency. An assessment in this regard is often difficult in practice. With the help of this research project, a practical method for ration control is to be created, directly on site on farms. Collaboration with the federal states' feeding consultants ensures a direct transfer of knowledge between research and practice. In addition, the results are published through conferences, reports, excursions and training courses and
thus made accessible for practice.
