Organic grassland and agriculture

This experiment is intended to test the suitability of short grass pasture under the climatic conditions of the Eastern Alps. Furthermore, the question of suitability for organic farming arises. Reseeding was carried out so that pasture could be established more quickly on the meadow.

As part of this, the reseeding mixtures and reseeding techniques used are evaluated. There is also a variant without treatment, which is then used for comparisons. In addition, a part is not grazed to show differences between a mown grassland area and a pasture system. Furthermore, the changes in the plant population should be documented and evaluated.

Goals:

  • Does the reseeding mixture or reseeding technique have an influence on the yield and ingredients of short grass pasture
  • The yields and ingredients differ between short grass pasture and cutting use
  • Does the reseeding mixture or the reseeding technique have an influence on the botanical composition of the plant population
  • Are there changes in the soil when used as short grass pasture or as a cutting variant
