Influence of fertilization and fallow land on the amount of humus and nutrient reserves in soils under permanent grassland - summary

This work deals with the long-term use of various fertilizers in permanent grassland and attempts to determine the effects of fertilizers on soil parameters and above- and below-ground phytomass.

    The main results are:

    • The addition of mineral nitrogen fertilizer, especially Nitramoncal , leads to severe soil acidification .
    • The addition of superphosphate significantly increases the total phosphorus concentration in the topsoil .
    • The addition of manure (stable manure and manure) increases the soil pH and humus content in the topsoil .
    • The addition of mineral N and P fertilizer reduces the root mass in the soil.
    • Fallow grassland and mineral K fertilizers increase the root mass in the soil.
    • NPK fertilizers and the addition of manure increase the harvestable above-ground phytomass .
    • The supply of manure (stable manure and manure) contributes slightly to carbon sequestration in the topsoil .
