E-mobility is becoming increasingly important in the passenger car sector . In large machines, such as those used in agriculture, the high energy requirements, charging density and charging capacity and thus also the weight of batteries limit their use. In the podcast conversation by Priv.-Doz. Dr. Andreas Steinwidder with Univ.-Prof. DI Dr. Helmut Eichlseder is concerned with the mobility of the future in agriculture and other heavy machinery .
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Eichlseder heads the Institute for Thermodynamics and Sustainable Drive Systems at TU Graz. Prof. Dr. During his professional career, Eichlseder himself developed and optimized engine technologies, which were then brought onto the market in large series. Today he works in research and development at Graz University of Technology on future drive technologies (e-mobility, hydrogen, hybrid systems, etc.). The research institute is one of the leading players in Europe when it comes to the transformation to sustainable drive systems.
For Prof. Dr. Eichlseder has no doubt that fossil fuels will also be a thing of history in the foreseeable future, even in large machinery and agricultural technology. From his point of view, however, a colorful mix of energy sources and technologies is needed to get there.
