    Environmental aspects of animal production

    The employees of this department are entrusted with carrying out all cattle feeding trials at the Institute for Livestock Research, with the current focus being on the efficiency and environmental effects of livestock farming. The scope of duties includes:

    • Professional care of cattle (calves, fattening cattle, dairy cows, suckler cows) at the research farm
    • Investigation of the climate effects of cattle farming
    • Recording feed intake, milk production and other experimental parameters in feeding projects
    • Carrying out respiration measurements to estimate methane production in cattle
    • Experiment-specific sampling
    • Care of the laboratory animals (cattle) at the research company
