Individual projects are supervised in the school forest and in 2006 a public forestry day was held with many of the devices used in practice for felling (processor), forwarding (rope crane, forwarder), wood recycling (including mobile wood chip production).
Administration and support
The management and support of the educational forest is carried out by the ÖBF.
The top priority in management is to support forestry training - be it as part of practical forestry lessons or when carrying out projects and theses.
Another important part of training is carrying out projects. In recent years, some interesting topics have been covered by the students, such as building a woodcutter's bark hut or creating a wet biotope.
A particularly noteworthy project is the safety training organized by Mr. Ing. Lassacher in collaboration with the General Accident Insurance Institute AUVA and the Farmers' Social Insurance SVB.
The main aim of the project is to teach students correct working techniques and a comprehensive safety awareness.
Experienced practitioners who come from business and have been working in forestry for years are used as trainers. Their wealth of practical experience is impressively passed on to students individually or in small groups.
