Learning sustainably - environmental label awarded again to HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein

Sustainable, future-oriented and environmentally friendly action is a basic principle in the schools of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Regions and Tourism (BMLRT). For their special commitment in this area, eight schools - including the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein - were recently certified with the Austrian Ecolabel.

“Our children have to cope with the diverse challenges of the future. To do this, they need knowledge and skills. Sustainability is a central educational content in the BMLRT schools. The eco-label supports and promotes this educational path and makes our commitment visible,” said Agriculture Minister Elisabeth Köstinger, congratulating her on being awarded the eco-label.

The eco-label is awarded by the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology together with the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. To receive this award, schools must meet an extensive list of criteria. Among other things, environmental projects should be included in lessons, and measures in the areas of environmental management, energy saving, health promotion and social cohesion are also planned. In this way, the eco-label creates structures to integrate educational quality, the environment and health into everyday school life. The eco-label is awarded for four years, after which a new inspection and certification takes place.

The eco-label for schools was first awarded in 2002 by the then Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management.
