Final excursion for the 5U class from September 18th to 25th, 2022

On Sunday, September 18th at 6 a.m., the 5U class of the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein went on their long-awaited final excursion to the southern countries of Italy, Monaco, France and Spain.

At our first stop in San Daniele del Friuli we were introduced to the ham factory where the famous Prosciutto di San Daniele has been produced since the Middle Ages. After a tasty tasting, we continued on to Venice. There we had a guided city tour, the friendly guide showed us the most beautiful corners of Venice. We ended the first day very comfortably together and the next morning we all continued towards Isola della Scala with full motivation. In the so-called “City of Rice” we visited a rice-growing company. After another tasting, our journey continued to Cremona, where a tour of a cattle breeding farm awaited us. The second day also ended with many new impressions. On day 3 we were given free time in Monaco. The changing of the guard and the large harbor were definitely among the highlights in this beautiful principality.

Some souvenirs were bought before it was said again: “Boarding completed; Cabin crew get ready for take-off.” Next stop: Nice. In the next fairytale city of Nice we had another guided tour of the city. A cocktail on the beach in Nice was a must. That day the bus took us to Aix-en-Provence, where we also spent a night. Our day started on Wednesday with a tour of an olive oil factory. The oils tasted hit one or two taste buds and some of the students' parents can look forward to tasty olive oil from France for their next salad. The girls in our class were particularly pleased when we were shown horse and bull breeding on a tractor trailer in the Camargue.

We spent the night from Wednesday to Thursday in Montpellier, the tram took us to the city center in the evening, where we stirred up the crowd as a class. The day after started sleepily, off to Carcassonne! There we strolled through the streets for a while and looked at the beautiful castle. In the afternoon we visited a dairy farm. What particularly caught our attention was the friendly farmer's wife who showed us around her farm. The home-made dairy products such as yoghurt, cheese and cream cheese tasted excellent. A little snack wasn't bad, because we now had the absolute highlight of the excursion: Lloret de Mar. We spent a total of two nights in this metropolis.

We spent Friday with a leisurely city tour of Barcelona, strolled along the famous “Ramblas” and bathed in the pleasantly warm sea. We all enjoyed the last night in Lloret de Mar together before we started the 20-hour journey home after breakfast on Saturday.

On behalf of the 5U class, we would like to thank our companions Mr. Kalss and Ms. Sonnleitner for being part of this unforgettable time.

Also a big thank you to the Eibisberger bus company with the best bus drivers Franz and Manolo. Of course, without our tour guide Viola, we wouldn't have all gotten home together, but would have been scattered around Italy, Monaco, France or Spain.

Thank you for that! It was an honor!
