Organic food crops in agriculture

    Carrying out field trials at the organic farming site of the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein in Lambach/Stadl-Paura. Development of optimization strategies on the topics of soil cultivation, fertilization, crop rotation, cultural management as well as harvesting and processing for organically managed arable farms.

    • Adaptation of crop rotation design and cultural management for organic arable farms as part of a climate change adaptation strategy
    • Testing of new crops for human nutrition such as sweet potatoes, rice etc. under organic farming conditions
    • Development and optimization of cultivation techniques for organic legumes such as lentils, beans or chickpeas in high-rainfall agricultural regions of the Alpine foothills
    • Optimization of biodiversity-promoting cultivation methods and creation of habitat structures on organic farming operations
