“The future of the Common Agricultural Policy 2021-2027 – tackling future challenges together” was presented by Johann es Fankhauser, head of section in the Federal Ministry for Sustainability and Tourism. In addition, Markus Hopfner from the BMNT and the representative Gisela Günter from the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and Jeff Dondelinger from the Luxembourg Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Rural Development presented their national strategic plans. The different priorities of the respective nations are interesting, but climate policy plays a central role in all drafts.
For Raumberg-Gumpenstein, this event was particularly important in terms of the news regarding the CAP strategy and climate-friendly funding ideas for rural areas.
Over 200 participants, including representatives from various ministries, state administrations, interest groups, specialist organizations, science, processing agencies and LEADER regions, as well as students from the agricultural education center, took part in this event and received additional information about possible climate protection actions.
A significant part of the event was also dedicated to actors from rural areas. Their successful operating concepts and experiences on the topics of sustainable regional production and marketing, climate-friendly mobility and waste avoidance were presented and discussed as lighthouse projects. Financial start-up aid for companies creates added value for the region.
Johann a Rohrhofer from the Future Space Land Network presented the “Innovation Analysis for Austrian Agriculture” with a focus on climate protection. The American “Cool Farm Tool”, an online calculator for greenhouse gases, water and biodiversity in agriculture, and the “Carbon Net Zero 2050” campaign with the aim of a CO2-neutral dairy industry were presented.
