Internship at the Institute for Animals, Technology and Environment

This year we were able to complete our practical training in the research area of the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein in the Institute for Animal Husbandry, Technology and Environment. We were primarily assigned to the Animal Husbandry Systems, Technology & Emissions department and were busy with literature research.

In addition, there were cross-departmental activities as needed (e.g. regarding the FarmLife or TIHALO projects). We were able to take part in the examinations carried out there on several business trips to practical companies within Germany. These company visits in the area of livestock farming (focus on cattle and pigs) on the topics of stable climate, ventilation, emissions and animal health are either part of projects such as IBeSt or take place in emergencies regarding animal health at the request of veterinarians. We were able to take part in the measurements ourselves and were involved in the consultations and information at the companies. In addition, some things were explained by the employees on the return journey. There was also a tour of other research facilities at the HBLFA site. We were introduced to the pig research barn and the projects running there as well as the manure testing facility in detail. We would like to thank all employees for the good cooperation.
