Intensive cattle fattening, as we know it from US feedlots, perform unfavorably in terms of food efficiency. Significantly more food-grade feed is fed here than is ultimately produced as food through the beef. A current study at the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein examined the food efficiency of grassland-based cattle fattening with oxen and calves.
