The focus is on raising awareness, transferring knowledge and exchanging examples of “Blue Gold”. The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein is also participating in the project!
The interdisciplinary project team from the areas of water, forests, agriculture, spatial planning, ecology and nature conservation is investigating the influences of various forms of land use on the water balance in the Danube catchment area. Water pollution, floods, increased surface runoff, soil compaction, erosion and invasive plant species are closely examined in CAMARO-D and workable solutions for improved Danube region management are developed together. The focus is on the development and implementation of a transnational land use development plan. In order to be able to implement effective solutions across the Danube region, all relevant interest groups are actively involved in the project. An international knowledge platform serves the cross-border exchange of examples, results, further ideas and cooperation opportunities. Workshops, seminars and practical instructions tailored to target groups are intended to make the knowledge available for practice quickly and efficiently.
The project management is carried out by the Forestry Section of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management. Other Austrian partners are the HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, Wiener Wasser (MA 31), the Federal Offices for Forestry and Water Management, the states of Styria and Upper Austria, the Styrian Nature Conservation Association and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna.
The HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein is involved with a focus on wet meadow management, alpine ecosystems and groundwater, erosion and surface runoff problems as well as site-appropriate greening and invasive plant species. The study area is the Styrian Ennstal.
The results of CAMARO-D are intended to make a significant contribution to the further development of the European Danube Region Strategy, the EU Water Framework Directive, the Floods Directive and other relevant management plans and EU policy areas.
