    Organic grassland and agriculture

This experiment aims to answer several questions. On the one hand, the question needs to be clarified as to how high the nitrogen fixation capacity of the three most important legumes (lucerne, red and white clover) is and, on the other hand, clover grass mixtures should be found that will subsequently be available in organic quality.

Another goal is to examine the effect on the following winter grain. The crude protein content and yield are particularly important here.

    Project goals:

    • Finding suitable clover grasses for the Austrian Alpine foothills in terms of biomass yield and nitrogen fixation performance

    • Testing different mixing ratios of clover and grass on yield, ensiling ability and nitrogen fixation performance

    • Influence of different clover grass mixtures on the following winter cereal crop, taking grain and protein yield into account
