The concept of “Health and Welfare Plans” represents a development in Great Britain in recent years. Such a plan has been mandatory for organic farms since 2000. There are also comparable approaches in the rest of Europe. The novelty of the approach lies primarily in the possibility of creating it on a company-specific basis in collaboration between farmers, veterinarians and consultants. Furthermore, it is possible to link animal health criteria with economically relevant parameters. The findings from the project are primarily available to the farm managers and are intended to enable them to continue the BEP together with veterinarians and consultants after the end of the project. In addition, the results should serve as a basis for the animal health service to revise/supplement the programs currently offered. The programs currently offered are primarily aimed at solving individual problem areas or diseases (rhinitis monitoring, mange status,...). With the introduction of operational development plans, an overall strategic analysis with individual solutions is offered.
